Description

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for supervising all activities inside the production areas, ensuring the quality and presentation of all food, supervising the kitchen, bakery and butchery staff, and controlling operating costs. They will guarantee that all food, health, and safety regulations are being met to ensure a great experience for our clients. They will be supporting the creation of the menu and attending to the clients when needed 


Requirements

  • Ability to work in different locations of La Huerta Market (Kent and tacoma)
  • Have a specialty in Mexican and Latin food  
  • Know how to work with recipes/portions and how to properly store food 
  • Show experience with using utensils needed in the kitchen (cutting, slicing, portioning, mixing, etc.) 
  • Basic use of provided technology such as a computer or tablet, using emails, and applications 
  • Previous experience with cooking in a professional work environment is preferred but not required 
  • Food Workers Card  
  • Reliable commute to work  
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, especially around holidays and weekends 
  • Know how to properly use and maintain kitchen appliances or willingness to learn how  
  • Language: Must be able to understand and speak basic English  
  • Physical: Must be able to stand and move during the day, lift and carry up to 30 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active Food Workers Card
  • Have a positive attitude towards safety, follow all health and safety regulations and/or policies to ensure the well-being of others and self  
  • Attend work with company provided uniform and have a tidy appearance 
  • Oversee the general production that includes day-to-day production and special food orders.  
  • Supervise the preparation of food, making sure it meets food safety regulations and that the recipes, quality of food, and portions are up to standard  
  • Be responsible of the Kitchen inventory from ingredients for the food to the serving supplies (plates, take-away containers, etc.)  
  • Coordinate and supervise the work equipment, give clear instructions, and report any incidents as quickly as possible  
  • Ensure the cleanliness and order of the work areas, report any unsafe working conditions of personnel and clients  
  • Be responsible for helping with hiring new staff which includes the interviewing process, selection, etc.  
  • Ensure all special food orders are realized and turned into the client on time correctly  
  • Make changes to the menu, recipes, and specials as needed due to holidays, special occasions, or seasons 
  • Update pricing, products, discounts, and general use of Point-of-Sale system  
  • Attend work with company provided uniform and have a tidy appearance
